They are also minting money from leasing search technology, investment in bio-techonology, Geo-thermal energy exploration etc. In case it feels the pinch, it may reinvest revenue from other sources to its core function, search related technologies. Also, Google may go ahead and take stake in (although far fetched at the moment) NYT, CNBC etc to diversify the search and ad-display medium. That’s a very chilling scenario you are talking about :)
