Google Phone G1 vs iPhone is Java vs C
iPhone made its mark, it came & it conquered our hearts. With the iPhone came the iPhone apps which became a gold mine for developers and a market for creating iPhone apps got developed. But then there was android which created buzz and buzz and then after years came the first android powered phone called the G1.
T-Mobile releases the worlds first Android powered phone called T-Mobile G1, G1 seems like the Google 1. The phone is available for $179 with a two year contract from T-Mobile. For Europe the sales will begin in November & early 2009.The G1 comes packed with a large touchscreen nearly the same size as that of iPhone, (not a multi-touch screen) but along with the touch screen there is full fledged physical keyboard under the slide which makes the phone a little thicker and a little heavier then iPhone.

So who made a good strategy, if i talk in terms of engineers or programmers who love to work on cell phone apps then they got two markets one is the iPhone development which is mainly done in C and the other G1 which is powered by Android and use Java all around it. Though the logo of Java is hot coffee and Java itself has been hot but still will that help.
iPhone strategy for the mobile app was better, they launched a product and once it hit the market hard they build a huge user base launched iPhone apps, promoted their platforms and opened a door for people to develop for iPhone and sell there apps as well. People are making good money out of it indeed & it is a very demanding market keeping in mind iPhone only comes with plans and its unlock version are still considered crime by Apple.
So far the Google’s strategy went really opposite, they first launched Android then they asked the world to learn android and develop applications when there was no demand for such apps and then they launched a single Android powered phone called the G1 which is a nice phone but not as powerful and impact full as iPhone.
In longterms if Android gets adopted by companies like Nokia, Samsung, LG and all the major players who join hand to hit against iPhone then maybe Android has a very bright future with a demand for mobile applications so high so far. But currently i have my fingers crossed the new G1 didnt impress me much in terms of its design and its features, lets see what comes next.
