Prank Calls Via My Blog

September 17th, 2008 by Zeeshan Hasan

So it happened again, my phone rings and there is a guy on the other side who says hello and then immediately starts telling me about a huge office space available at a locality in Lahore. He did not breath or even ask who i was he just started. I told him dude i don’t need an office space and he says sir we have a full fledged floor and can also arrange an office space at other localities…. i asked him we have an office and we don’t need office space but he insists and asks me if i can give him a number of any other person who is responsible for such decisions at my company. For moment i thought is it an official call … did i give my business card at some place ..  who am i … so i asked him “Can you tell me where did you call” and the answer was with a silence “ZONG … ” and i told him “No this is not Zong and i don’t work at ZONG and where did you get my number” and he says i got it from a website …

So it happened again, this is the sixth time i got a call on my cell phone where people inquire about ZONG a cell phone company launched in Pakistan twice the calls were for a job in Zong and twice for some sales for ZONG and why it happened. Well people search on Google for zong china mobile Pakistan and i happen to be the person who wrote an article on Zong on my blog… so while searching people land on my website where i have published an article on Zong along with the URL of the company but instead people just scan my website and on footer find my cell phone number and without any thought or looking around my site they give me call …. who is at fault! Me or lack of common sense … ZONG should sponsor this blog or else i should start making deals on there behalf :P. Anyhow keeping this in view i had to remove the number cause there were added no of calls coming in, recently i was also being invited for a meting for some marketing manager of some ABC company as well.

Even Microsoft Uses IE Hacks

July 18th, 2008 by Zeeshan Hasan

Well this is interesting, if you are a person who is somehow related to web, who spend ridiculous amount of time fixing CSS & XHTML that should work perfectly in IE6, IE7 then i guess this is an interesting discovery.

Microsoft recently revamped there windows website with a new layout to tell  the world “What is windows Live?” so instead of checking out windows live i said why not check out how Microsoft writes its markup and what i found was a bit disturbing, on the top of the page was a css hack to load a separate style sheet for IE7 as the original style sheet was not compatible with IE7.

<!–[if IE 7]><link rel=”Stylesheet” href=”Framework/styles/base_ie.css” /><![endif]–>

Radiohead’s new video ‘House of Cards’

July 18th, 2008 by Zeeshan Hasan

Radiohead one of my favorite  band is always creative with there videos, recently Radiohead came up with a new video ‘House of Cards’ from there new album ‘In Rainbows’. The key point of this video was that it was created without the use of cameras & lights. No its not animated video rather the video was produced by capturing 3D images using two technology companies ‘Geometric Informatics & Velodyne LIDAR. Geometric Informatics scanning systems produce structured light to capture 3D images at close proximity, while a Velodyne Lidar system that uses multiple lasers is used to capture large environments such as landscapes. In this video, 64 lasers rotating and shooting in a 360 degree radius 900 times per minute produced all the exterior scenes.

Its sort of a digital video compromised of digital data manipulate. Even Google loved there idea and some of there data is available on Google’s code website which you can use to incorporate your own visualization.

July 16th, 2008 by Zeeshan Hasan

Finally the day arrived when i received a clear cut warning from a doctor that son its quite early for you to receive this warning and its time you quite smoking. Ah the word ‘quite smoking‘ was more painful then anything else, for years i enjoyed the taste of tobacco and when ever some one argued on smoke free environments i was the first one to protest against it.  Sometime i use to be like ‘Nick Naylor‘ from the movie from ‘Thank you for smoking‘. But yes now i have to quite smoking.

Coke Studio an innovation to Pakistani Music

June 21st, 2008 by Zeeshan Hasan

A very innovative project by Coca cola, finally they did something better then there brrrRR commercial which is quite annoying. Any how apart from critics while browsing the tv i stumbled upon an episode of coke studio featuring ‘Ali Azmat’ and ‘Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’ singing Balaman [download here] a semi classical song mixed with the modern feel with guitars and immediately fell in love with the song. I am not a big fan of classical music but i guess with age this taste develops which is bad as it seems and feels like growing old which is one thing we really want to avoid.

Being into web i searched on the coke studio and for a moment was impressed with the website they had build although they used wordpress for there core system but no doubt a very nice job done and some body did work on details for it.

Thanks to them all of us who missed the performance on tv can download the songs in mp3, and can even watch the videos on YouTube. There are four episodes expected from them and first one has been released on there website from where you can download the songs or view the videos check them out

Those who still have no idea what coke studio:
