Recently i have seen tons of online potential emerging in Pakistan, i have seen the first startup for international market like iScrybe which never started so far but was a positive effort and even gained Google attention for accusation which didn’t happened, i have seen Wixed which some say is a Pakistani startup but i was unable to digg in any information as to where they belong ! but still seems like a very exciting application. The our local job site Rozee took tons of attention and gained alot of popularity.
Then there are tons of Bloggers like me who exist, sites like Bloggers by a famous Karachi Blogger Teeth Maestro made an effort to collect them together and made me feel that i am not alone, publishing platforms got hot with sites like greenwhite.org one of my fav blog reading site which i also planned to re-designed but never got time apologies, also Pakistaniat a political blog another startup buzzVines a platform to publish for everyone and having approximately more then 300 publishers who write for them occasionally. Then there is Metro Blogging of Lahore / Karachi / Islamabad running quite actively.
The story does not end here, the news papers and media sites have started paying alto of attention to there online sites as well, the most pathetic and most famous site DAWN is planning to relaunch there website by improving it alot, The Nation is also expected to do something like that, Jung Group launched there URDU blog which is quite interesting.

Other young lot have launched sites like creative-pakistan a clone of cssMania, sites like Pakwheels.com is also gaining good attention but lack alot in technical smoothness and quality accessible / usable design as i happened to test this site. Telecoms Industry has also improved alot in there online presence like ufone going best and Mobilink going worst (my personal recommendation thou i use mobilink but don’t like there site’s design)

So all this information ads to one simple answer our IT or our Dot Com Industry is growing at a very rapid speed, our youth are spending time online away from MSN chat etc and are doing something worth while.  On the footnote its a positive growth and a sign for entrepreneur to seek deep into open opportunities lying right here in Pakistan.

So Now PASHA decides to make some more money ! Oh i forgot PASHA stands for “Pakistan Software Houses Associations” , i am not a big fan of PASHA they haven’t done any good so far and if i ask them why, they would blame the Govt. for it ! doh ! i ll address this issue of why i am not a big fan of PASHA later. So back to PASHA making money, well just like Rozee.pk job fair now PASHA is holding a career expo 2007 at PC, reason being the Rozee job fair this year generated a revenue of 4 Billion Rs according to internal resources and was one of the most successful .com event in Pakistan. Thousands of people came and lots of sponsors sponsored the event, but the question is how many got the JOB ? NONE i guess !. I did visit Rozee first job fair back in 2006 or 2005 i guess and all i saw there was just marketing, companies were getting chance to market themselves, rozee was making money out of it and there were tons of piles of Resumes lying every where and the way they were lying there i have my doubts if anybody would make any use of them apart from selling them to the “Radi wala”.

The job market is hot, companies are seeking talented professionals but there is huge lack of talented well groomed professionals in the current IT market. And our Software associations instead of providing trainings, seminars & workshops on exciting technologies they are more focusing on making a buck !
