The interviews went fine, selected one candidate for QA and still finalizing the second one. The shocking thing was the talent which I could see in 90% of them and the more shocking thing was i could see the talent getting wasted in pathetic software houses. 80% of our software houses are operating on projects outsourced from UK, USA, and Canada. The projects are pouring in software houses are opening up competition is rising and software houses are closing down. The outsource software houses usually operate at night shifts, maximum development on web applications and at certain level desktop applications. Very few productions houses are involved in developing there own products, the only product found is accounting software’s for small organizations, rest its outsourcing.
The other potential rising in Pakistan is VOIP, the outsourced productions houses require cheap communication, every house has a son or a daughter abroad they require easy and cheap communications and thus VOIP is really in. But the problem with VOIP is PTCL (Pakistan telecommunications ltd) openly they wont allow neither openly they would stop its the Govt. crab. The interesting thing is if some one is smart enough to start putting up such service provider he could be the gates of future.
There is cellular service provider corporate war going on in Pakistan, Mobilink, Ufone, Paktel, InstaPhone, Telenor and now Warid. Well with a few years we have 6 companies to feed our consumer market these kinds of competitive markets are extremely healthy for both consumer and employees both are getting maximum benefit from it. Wondering if I should open one too….
Resently Warid telecommunication launched its company, well lots of smart moves and lots of dumb ass moves. They have lots of liquid cash so they were able to put up service in 24 cities in one GO. There marketing was smart too… they had smartly generated a hype in the atmosphere Warid is coming with lots of free weekly hours and literally people were waiting for the details on the connections (good job warid) but there launch ceremonies were as pathetic as Telenor’s was loud speaker with Indian songs, Projector screen with Indian songs what the fuck… I don’t hate India but still common marketing your brand with Love , seductive song from bollywood nice move. The plan launched was the basic one 300Rs connection with 150rs of talk time warid to warid 2.00 rs and across network 3.00 rs. Well I don’t mind that cause the hype is still there what more is Warid going to offer.
Call center business has settled down TRG still leading and growing like a giant, small tit bit call centers still operating and its a bit smooth out there.

A little about me I cant sleep it has been 4 days and I cant sleep, 12 mid night I reach home and after wards I try to sleep but I cant sleep you don’t know how it feels if you cant get a nights sleep, I cant do proper work, I cant take care of issues, short tempered, noise tolerance to zero. Well I am gone take some sleeping pills this weekend else I am gone go crazy, if you have a better solution let me know.

The "Noori Polo"has started writing there daily blog which you can view here. And the famous Islamabad band called Corduroy has also started doing that which you can view here. |

| Watched The Aviator (Leonardo Dicaprio) in master print grab it now available and yes its worth the collection. Turned out lucky while a visit to a video shop and got hold of the Last concert of Pink Floyd PULSE in DVD… the concert was worth it….hope someday some one can perform the way they did it… i guess not … dam i missed it too late. Anyhow now i am again gona watch TrainSpoting if you haven’t seen it go get its a story on Junkie s…. |
